Start school changes & plan your layout
If children are changing schools, start the process now — and think about how you’ll arrange furniture in your new home.
Appoint your settlement agent
Early appointment keeps the process smooth — and read your Offer and Acceptance contract carefully for condition dates.
4 Weeks Out
Time to start the physical prep.
Sort belongings & explore your new area
Downsize unwanted items, and take a drive around your new neighbourhood — shops, cafes, parks, bus stops.
Get packing boxes & book inspections
Contact your broker to arrange mortgage document signing, and book any termite/building inspections your contract requires.
Check compliance & arrange moving day care
Confirm RCD and smoke alarm compliance, and organise someone to watch children or pets on moving day.
2 Weeks Out
The final stretch.
Sort insurance & start packing
Sort out house insurance and begin packing in earnest.
Complete ID checks & confirm conditions
Complete the ID process with your settlement agent, and confirm no contract conditions remain outstanding with your real estate agent.
Book your removalist & redirect mail
Book your removalist, contact Synergy/phone/internet/gas providers, and organise mail redirection.
